Lunar New Year

The Year Of The Horse: from scratch-card cocktails to fortune-cookie buns.

Saddle up for the Lunar New Year and welcome our next zodiac animal: the Horse. Symbolising action, motion and fearless energy, the Year Of The Horse ignites fiery vitality and the drive to seize every opportunity. Our luxury brands are celebrating this equine spirit with activations that capture the season’s unbridled energy and spirit.

Fortnum & Mason unveils a new edition of its continuing collab with Tell Camellia, the much-loved Hong Kong cocktail house. “This next chapter blends Tell Camellia’s craft with Fortnum’s centuries of tea heritage,” the brand says, as it drops a stunning new cocktail, the “Sip & Prosper” — combining Fortnum’s Lemon & Mandarin Green Tea with vermouth, kumquat liqueur and blackcurrant.

The special runs from the 19th of January till the 22nd of February. And, just like the previous edition, this drink comes with a side serving of luck: Fortnum’s explains how “guests that order the LNY cocktail will be given a scratch card, which gives them the chance to wine one of five prizes.” These include cocktails for two at The Royal Exchange, as well as one of the brand’s iconic hampers and a Lossus biscuit tin.

Jang is celebrating with a very special dish “rooted in tradition and comfort.” The Korean New Year Soup pairs Tteok Guk, a warming Korean rice cake soup, with Galbi Mandu (tender short rib dumplings served with condiments.) The set is completed with a trio of seasonal sides: Jerusalem artichoke jangajji, endive kimchi and yuzu lotus pickle. Available for one day only on Tuesday 17th of February.

And that’s not all. Aspinal Of London will be offering free horse symbol embossing between 17th of February and the 3rd of March — a chance to imprint with some of that equine energy. From the 20th-22nd of February, Buns From Home will be offering the Yuzu Fortune Cookie Bun. It’s a delicacy that boasts a buttery croissant dough filled with bright yuzu curd, condensed milk cream — finished with a fortune cookie.
