Poco Matcha
Matcha mania has arrived: meet your favourite new lunchtime ritual.
It’s matcha’s moment. With the oh-so-green drink going viral the world over, we couldn’t be more pleased to have Poco Matcha opening its doors at The Royal Exchange. Turkey’s first matcha bar, the brand is bringing its creative take on the Japanese staple to the City, offering us Londoners a delicious — and truly colourful — answer to the question of where to get our daily caffeine fix.

Founder Enes Coşkun was inspired by his time in New York, where he discovered matcha as a vibrant alternative to coffee. His return to Turkey saw him experiment with various flavour combinations before opening the first Poco Matcha on Bağdat Street. Today, the brand has locations across Istanbul, as well as Çeşme and Bodrum, and Enes is “recognised as a pioneer in the sector,” the brand explains.
Part of this success is due to the brand’s fresh take on a centuries-old Japanese tradition, where the joy of classic matcha meets contemporary menu combos. It’s a formula that has attracted a growing following in Turkey, as well as from visitors across Europe and the Middle East — and now, at last, London can enjoy this distinctive treat also. “Allergic to fake matcha,” indeed.
