Heatwave Must-Haves
Put the high temperatures on ice.
Can’t stand the heat? Our luxury brands have you covered. With thermometer-melting weather this summer, we’re all having to find new ways to keep our cool. It’s the perfect excuse, then, to sink an iced cocktail, or bolt on a cold health smoothie to your morning routine (more appealing, perhaps, than the usual latte). Our terraces are open for business, so let’s make the most of it — it will be November again soon enough— with the best of The Royal Exchange’s July beverages. Read on for our top picks.

“When London turns up the temperature, our terrace answers with frozen cocktails,” says Engel. Soak up the sun with the bar’s classic Frozen Margarita, an ice-cold slush of tequila and lime: “sharp, citrusy and unapologetically refreshing.” Upstairs, Engel Bar is the ideal place to find shelter from the heat while sipping on its new creation, the Posterkind Spitz. Inspired by 1920s Berlin aperitivo culture, it’s a glass of bright, effervescent cool.
“Summer just got an upgrade,” says Elevate, as the boutique unveil two new recipes. The Cool State, a tropical blue smoothie, is built around coconut water for natural electrolytes, with added magnesium for keeping topped up and balanced through the heat. Honey Collagen Lemonade is the brand’s remix of a summer classic: cloudy lemon and a touch of raw honey meet marine collagen for a drink that’s “crisp, golden and properly thirst-quenching.”

This summer, Jang invites you to “discover Korea’s best kept secret in a glass.” Meet Sooldanji Fresh Makgeolli, a traditional Korean rice wine brewed in London using Korean rice and yeast. “Refreshing fruit notes meet a creamy, silky texture that is completely dairy free,” the restaurant explains, in Korea’s original social beverage. Smooth and easy to drink, it pairs perfectly with Jang’s menus — particularly the Korean barbecue and fresh sushi. Geonbae!
