Sam Trevethyen, head of beverage training and development at Grind café bar, reveals what it takes to make a perfect Christmas Eve tipple

 

‘At Grind we keep it simple, using high-quality ingredients. To make an espresso old fashioned, we use Wild Turkey Bourbon, espresso syrup containing Grind coffee, fresh Grind espresso, and chocolate bitters. Adding both espresso syrup and fresh espresso brings a rich, coffee and toffee sweetness to the drink, giving more body anda heavier mouthfeel. Lastly, the chocolate bitters bring a touch of spice, rounding the drink off. Recreate Grind’s recipe at home by adding all ingredients into a mixing glass before stirring and straining into a glass with ice.’ Sam Trevethyen, head of beverage training and development at Grind café bar.
