Autumn In New York

From the city that never sleeps.

This October, our luxury labels head to the Big Apple for inspiration. Aspinal of London, Boodles and Montblanc set out to bring British and European elegance to NYC’s heady brand of energetic modernity. The result? Collections that sparkle like a skyscraper in the low autumn light. Read on for our digest of this transatlantic crossover.

Aspinal

The British are coming. Aspinal of London’s AW24 offering sees the brand arrive by sea with “the Hudson collection.” This release takes us on a journey from the dark, black-adjacent colours of leafy Central Park to wine-hued rouges inspired by The Modern on 53rd. In doing so, the brand says, “it celebrates the importance of everyday style, turning sidewalks and pavements alike into an occasion to look chic.” Marked by deep, rich tones, the collection effuses autumnal urban living. It is completed by “the essential colourways of any everyday, workwear ready wardrobe” where “Black and Tan leathers bring timeless versatility.”

Boodles

Boodles’ “Fifth Avenue” collection is a tribute to the birthplace of the ASHOKAยฎ diamond. Drawing from Fifth Avenue’s globally-recognised architecture, these modern, structural pieces are marked by a striking Art Deco style with the hard lines and angles of New York architecture. As the only European jeweller to use these highly-sought gemstones, this is a very personal collection for the brand โ€” and marks a quarter century since it began working with the Goldberg family, the creators of the diamond. Boodles explains it as “a fresh approach…moving away from the brandโ€™s traditionally organic, feminine style.”

Finally, Montblanc takes its cue from a novel that has come to define New York in the eyes of the world: F Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, which draws a picture of the city in the Roaring Twenties. Nearly a century later, the brand notes how the design drew influence from the NYC and Long Island of the Jazz Age โ€” a time of opulence. “Created as a nod to an early Montblanc writing instrument of the Art Deco era, the surface of the barrel, fashioned using a special technique, seems to reflect the booming cityโ€™s brightly lit high-rise facades at night.”
