An Exchange Of Flavour
From feasts to Martini & Fries, August’s menus are anything but ordinary.
The Royal Exchange has always been a meeting point — of commerce, culture, and now, cuisine. This summer, that spirit of exchange plays out across our bars and terraces, where classic City cocktails meet flavours from further afield. From martinis in the historic vaults to Korean feasting menus and elegant terrace snacks, here’s how to eat and drink well this season.

At The Libertine, the classic martini gets a hot new sidekick. Descend into the historic vaults beneath The Royal Exchange for the bar’s new Martini & Fries pairing: a crisp, expertly mixed martini served alongside golden fries. Sophisticated, indulgent and unmistakably City, it’s the ideal excuse for an afternoon catch-up or after-work treat. Available Monday to Friday, 4pm–6pm.
From City cool to summer feasts, with Jang preparing one of North Korea’s most celebrated specialties. This month’s Taste of Jang menu is inspired by Hamhung Naengmyeon, the city Hamhung’s iconic chilled noodle dish, served as part of Korea’s Han Sang feast. Expect chewy noodles, ice-cold beef broth, spicy squid salad, crisp kkakdugi and house-made onion jangajji — a tantalising taste of the Korean peninsula in summer.

The exchange continues outdoors on our summer terraces, where Fortnum & Mason serves up an elegant bar snacks menu: from Secret Smokehouse Smoked Salmon with shallots and capers to Welsh Rarebit with slow-roasted tomato. Share plates of Brie & Ham Croquettes, English Charcuterie, triple-cooked chips with Béarnaise, or British cheeses, all paired with a drink in the glorious City sunshine. Bliss.
