What’s on this November

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at The Royal Exchange, with a host of festive activity commencing this month

05 November, 2019

Christmas in the City officially begins with our tree-lighting event, from 5:30pm on Wednesday 20 November. Downton Abbey actress Joanne Froggatt will lead the countdown and switch on the lights of our magnificent Fortnum & Mason Christmas tree, while the entertainment will be provided courtesy of the East London Chorus. There’ll also be complimentary hot chocolate, mulled wine and mince pies from Fortnum & Mason to get everyone in the festive spirit. Join us after the tree-lighting event for some late-night shopping, seasonal offers and special events – such as Leica’s photography workshop and Cutter & Squidge bakery’s biskie-making class – within our luxury boutiques.

November welcomes three new names to The Royal Exchange, just in time for the Christmas season. Mulberry – esteemed purveyors of fine British leather goods and accessories – will open the doors of its new boutique, situated on Cornhill, on Monday 18 November. The six-month pop-up will be the first concept store of its kind from Mulberry, with a pub installation inspired by the brand’s global My Local pub event series. Customers can pair their shopping with an exploration of the Mulberry world in this immersive space complete with a fully equipped bar, sponsored by Meantime, and a tournament-ready pool table.

On Thursday 28 November, diamond specialist Vashi will also be launching its shiny new store, occupying a prime position within The Royal Exchange’s beautiful central courtyard. And London-based chocolatiers Rococo will be in residence by the end of the month with a mouthwatering selection of ethically produced treats.

Enjoy a multisensory evening at the Fortnum’s Bar & Restaurant, with live music to accompany your dining experience every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 7pm. A varied programme of performers will entertain guests with the soulful and uplifting vibes of jazz, blues and Motown. Bookings are advisable for these popular evenings – please visit our events page for further details.

Additionally, join us for some feel-good festive entertainment each Thursday in the run up to Christmas, with a special programme of choral performances. All-male singers the Meantime Chorus, who won the 2019 Manchester Amateur Choral Competition, will kick off the billing at 5:30pm on 28 November.

Luxury British beauty and fragrance brand Jo Malone London is launching its Magic and Mayhem-themed Christmas campaign with a series of in-store events at The Royal Exchange. Shoppers will have the chance to create their own Christmas cracker on Thursday 14 November and try their hand at crafty customisation workshops on Tuesday 26 November; all while enjoying a glass of festive fizz and treats.

Pollen + Grace’s pop-up at The Royal Exchange will continue to provide the City with its healthy, plant-based breakfast and lunch dishes until Saturday 16 November; before the inevitable onslaught of Christmas indulgence. And eco-friendly beauty fans should take note that award-winning Ayurvedic brand Urban Veda Natural Skincare is coming to The Royal Exchange for a limited time only, from 20 November – 24 December.

Join Equinox fitness instructors Danielle Wells and Mia Togo for a winter yoga session in The Royal Exchange central courtyard at 9am on Saturday 23 November. Fortnum & Mason will be serving up a nutritious brunch of mouth-watering yet virtuous dishes – such as a berry and banana Açai bowl, and mushrooms and tarragon toast – after the class. Book your place here.
