My City: Diana Verde Nieto

The global sustainability expert and co-founder of Positive Luxury on what makes London special, and her city living rituals

10 January, 2020

WHERE IN LONDON DO YOU LIVE AND WORK?

I’ve lived in Notting Hill for 12 years and I’ve worked in Shoreditch for eight years. I love them both!

WHAT’S YOUR EARLIEST MEMORY OF LONDON?

My earliest memory is flying into Heathrow and seeing all those green rolling hills so close to the city, which is amazing.

WHAT MAKES LONDON SPECIAL TO YOU?

Everything. The history, the people, the architecture. I love my adopted home. My favourite place is Postman’s Park, and the Memorial to Heroic Self-Sacrifice. It’s a public monument in the park that commemorates ordinary people who died saving the lives of others and who might otherwise have been forgotten. It’s my Zen zone.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE LONDON IN THREE WORDS?

To me, London is buzzy, romantic and fascinating.

WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE LONDONER?

Hmm… Paddington Bear!

WHAT’S YOUR MORNING RITUAL?

Rolling into my Lycra and then starting the day by running or doing yoga.

WHAT DO YOU DO TO KEEP A GOOD WORK-LIFE BALANCE?

Sports, friends and Match of the Day.

WHAT’S THE BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ IN THE PAST SIX MONTHS?

The Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben.

WHAT’S THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’VE EVER BEEN GIVEN?

Believe. If your mind can do it, you can do it.
