LET THERE BE LIGHT

The countdown to Christmas officially begins with The Royal Exchange tree-lighting event, commencing at 5:30pm on Wednesday 20 November. This year, we are delighted to welcome Downton Abbey star Joanne Froggatt, who will host the event, lead the countdown and press the button to illuminate our magnificent Fortnum & Mason-decorated Christmas tree. Wrap up warm and join us at our grand western steps, just outside Exit 3 of Bank station, to enjoy Christmas carols from the East London Chorus and complimentary hot chocolate, mulled wine and mince pies served by Fortnum & Mason’s Red Coats. Following the tree-lighting event, join us for late-night shopping, special seasonal offers and masterclasses at our exceptional collection of boutiques.

THE FESTIVITIES COMMENCE

Celebrate the start of the Christmas season with a spot of late-night shopping after our tree-lighting event. As well as the chance to stock up on gifts and stocking fillers, many of our luxury retailers will also be hosting special events and offers throughout the evening.

Aspinal of London and Penhaligon’s are giving away complimentary gifts when you spend over £250 and £130 respectively, while SageBrown is offering 10% off everything for one night only. Get into the Christmas spirit at Fortnum & Mason with complimentary champagne and wine tastings, visit Halcyon Days, who will also be serving guests champagne and offering complimentary customisation on any purchase, or delve into the company archives with Danish silversmith Georg Jensen at its exclusive talk at 7:15pm.

If you’re looking to learn a new skill in time for Christmas, Leica will be hosting a photography workshop, while natural bakery Cutter & Squidge will be showing attendees how to make their signature ‘biskies’ – an indulgent cake and cookie hybrid.
