The Royal Exchange was honoured to host the inaugural Jazz at The Royal Exchange event earlier this month, in association with the City of London Festival.
From 6-10 July, a different performer took to the stage each evening. A beautiful grand piano served as the focal point of the courtyard, as the building resonated with the sound of some of the UK’s most talented jazz singers.
The week kicked off with the Latin-influenced Noemi Nuti, whose stunning set was broadcast in full on Jazz FM. The celebrations continued with Guildhall School of Music & Drama graduate Emily Dankworth performing on Tuesday evening, followed by a diverse set by singer-songwriter Claire Phoenix on Wednesday.
The following evening, the music of the talented Jessica Radcliffe provided the perfect antidote to any tube-strike woes, while Scottish singer and multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Carr brought the week to a lively and entertaining close.
Diners at the Grand Café and Sauterelle were treated to a special menu and range of cocktails created especially for the occasion, with dishes inspired by the works of jazz greats.
Thank you to all who joined us, and we hope to welcome you back to The Royal Exchange soon.
